For over twenty years, Marie Kohler has been a freelance journalist for Wisconsin and national publications. She has written film reviews for the Milwaukee Sentinel; theater reviews for Art Muscle; feature articles for Milwaukee Magazine; essays for Milwaukee Footlights, Shepherd Express, and The Wisconsin Academy Review; and pieces for American Theater Magazine. She has also been published in National Trust Magazine, Great Lakes Stages and Milwaukee Metro.

One of her essays, "The Gathering", on the subject of Milwaukee's traditional Friday fish-fry, is included in the anthology In My Neighborhood - Celebrating Wisconsin Cities (published by Prairie Oak Press, Madison, WI 2000).

Kohler is currently writing a play, cultural articles for Shepherd Express, a collection of autobiographical essays ("Blood and Other Essays") and a memoir about growing up in Riverbend, the large house built by her grandfather in the 1920's when he was running for Governor and head of the plumbing empire based in Kohler, Wisconsin.
